The Institute, whilst having a very important role in village life, is a difficult subject as it is not particularly attractive. I warmed the colours to echo the warmth and affection in which the Institute is held, and added some greenery around it. The Standing stone on the left is a memorial to the soldiers who died in the two world wars. I included the road as it is a fact of village life that a major trunk road runs through it. The end result is as pleasing as possible and I am glad I went ahead and painted this 'dear' building.
